Notes of The Approach into Fresno

  • The altimeter is at 5000'  IFR flights are generally flown at 3000', 4000', 5000', etc, whereas VFR flights are flown at 3500', 4500', 5500', etc.
  • The gear lever just in front of my right hand is up.
  • The flaps are up - the white lever in front of Steve's left knee.
  • I have the approach plate in front of me.  This tells the pilots exactly which radio navigational aids to use and at what altitude to fly.
  • The switch just above my left hand is the avionics master switch - up is on.
  • The compass is on top of the windshield.
